Echoes of Maidan has been nominated for the 2026 Photobook Prize!

I am incredibly happy and proud to share news that means a great deal to me — Echoes of Maidan has been nominated for the 2026 Photobook Prize.

The prize is awarded by Fotoförfattarna within the Swedish Photographers’ Association, and in 2026 the competition celebrates its 30th anniversary. The winner will be announced at a photobook gala in Stockholm in March 2026.

But beyond the nomination itself, this feels deeply personal.

The book was born out of the revolution in Kyiv — a struggle for dignity, democracy, and the future. Knowing that the story of what happened in 2013/2014 is being read and carried forward by you is both moving and deeply humbling.

We are now in the thirteenth year of the war — the longest war in Europe in over 300 years. In this light, every image, every page, and every conversation the book creates feels even more important. That Echoes of Maidan is being recognized at this moment feels like a sign that these voices and experiences still need to be heard.

FAQ

How are the prints made?

Each photograph is carefully produced using a traditional process. The images are captured digitally, then converted into analog negatives at a professional lab. The final prints are hand-developed in the darkroom at Indigolabbet, ensuring a truly authentic photographic result.

What kind of paper is used?

All artworks are printed on carefully selected, high-quality photographic paper. The choice of material enhances the tonal range, depth and texture, giving each print a timeless, tactile feel.

Are the prints limited editions?

Yes. Every photograph is produced in exclusive, limited editions. Each print is numbered and signed by me, Christoffer Hjalmarsson, making it a collectible work of art.

Are the prints hand-signed?

Yes. All limited edition prints are individually signed and numbered by Christoffer. The signature confirms authenticity and connects you directly to the artist behind the image.

How are the prints shipped?

Prints are carefully packed and shipped from Sweden. Each piece is rolled in protective material and delivered in a secure tube or flat package. Worldwide shipping with tracking is available.

Are the prints framed?

Prints are sold unframed unless otherwise stated. This allows you to choose framing that suits your interior and personal taste. For best preservation, use acid-free materials and UV-protective glass.

Can I order a custom size or framing?

Custom sizes or framing options can sometimes be arranged, depending on the image and edition. Please reach out via the contact page with your request.

Can I commission Christoffer for a photography project or lecture?

May consider taking on selected assignments or lectures, depending on the scope of the project and my availability. For inquiries about commissions, collaborations, portraits or talks, please get in touch via the contact form.

What makes these prints different from standard photo prints?

These are not mass-produced posters. Each print is the result of a hybrid process that bridges digital precision and analog craftsmanship — hand-developed in the darkroom, one image at a time.

How should I care for my print?

Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight, moisture and heat. Handle it carefully, and always with clean hands or gloves. Proper framing will protect and preserve your print for generations.
